Unfortunately, this scenario is off the table during this tour, after the hosts' dominant 82-run win in Adelaide gave Australia with a 3-0 lead for the fourth consecutive series on their own soil.

The loyal traveling fans, England's supporters' group, have 3,000 fans traveling for the final two Tests in New South Wales and Victoria.

There are also travel parties who will be vacationing in Australia, as well as loved ones planning a dream holiday.

Fans with Booked Tickets

Four fans named Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie are a prime example.

Alex, Sam, Rory and Katie had their itineraries and entry credentials booked for the Melbourne and Sydney matches "12 months ago", hoping to witness a rare England series success.

From afar, they've seen Australia dismantle the tourists in just under two weeks from their house in the north of England.

"People in the office has been making comments that the series is done for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"Our expectation had been that we would have a meaningful contest by the time we arrived."

Lowered Expectations

There was plenty of positivity regarding the team's prospects of ending their 15-year wait for a triumph on Australian soil ahead of the tour.

But they are now staring down the barrel of extending their winless run in the country to 19 games when the next match starts in Melbourne on Thursday, 25 December.

Ben Stokes' side - and their followers - will be desperate to avoid a whitewash.

One sibling noted the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in the past couple of seasons had "brought fresh energy to" the longest format for England fans.

Yet the fans said they had realistic outlooks for the fourth and fifth Tests - and all they are hoping for from the players is "a bit of fight".

"Every pundit points it out, but it all is about fortitude. 'This style has been become a phrase now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should apply yourself. Playing at deliveries 'sixth stump' areas has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is primarily due to the frontline batsmen."

The Remaining Matches

Prompted about he believed England will secure a victory in the current series, Sam said: "It looks like the hosts are a stronger side currently."

"Necessarily, there must be more than one player that delivers for the team and turns the game."

Despite the scoreline, the fans are anticipating the trip.

"We will have a wonderful trip anyway," commented Katie Ryding. "We must adopt that outlook."

"Obviously it is disappointing we don't have more to play for, but we have made a substantial financial commitment already."

"We'll enjoy having Christmas and New Year out there. It is also our first experience traveling at this time of year."

A schoolteacher, Katie is intent on maximizing the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her time off.

"As a backup plan, I can play golf to fall back on," she finished.
